Getting Serious About Self-Isolation

Both the provincial and federal authorities are getting frustrated with people not self-isolating and gathering in groups and are going to bring the hammer down if we all don’t start cooperating.

Big fines are coming for those of you flaunting the rules, so let’s not make things worse. Hunker down at home.

Now is a great time to pick up some vegetable seeds and start some plants indoors. Perhaps put in some raised garden beds outdoors if you can. Rescue those old window frames and make some cold frames for your garden this summer. Easy veggies to grow include beans, beets, carrots, peas, cukes, kale, lettuce, squash and pumpkins. Consider ordering or making your own greenhouse. Most supplies can be delivered straight to your door. There are hundreds of online plans and videos to show you how to do it.

And on a more optimistic note, some of the things that disappeared from store shelves for the last couple of weeks are now showing up. I’ve heard from people that toilet paper has been showing up at most stores as people realize they don’t need to hoard the stuff. Even alcohol based hand sanitizer showed up Friday at one store. My wife Karen scored two of the individual sized containers by chance.

Let’s hear about your at-home activities, even if it’s just a web article or Youtube video that captured your interest.
