Giant Pumpkin Regatta ready for third year in Shelburne

It’s a Thanksgiving weekend tradition.

The annual Pumpkin Regatta takes place in Shelburne on Saturday.

The event started in Windsor, it features people racing giant pumpkins across the water.

Community Development Coordinator Robin Smith says it’s grown every year since the move to Shelburne in 2022.

“The interest that we have right now is pretty amazing. We have people all over Nova Scotia that will be attending. I’ve got many telling me they want to register for events, and they’re not from the area, so it’s definitely very exciting,” said Smith.

She says around 15 pumpkins are confirmed to be on the waterfront, three will be from Windsor.

A whole list of events are happening, there are also some road closures in town.
