Radiothon pulls in $167,000 to improve breast cancer care

The 15th Annual Gift From the Heart Radiothon pulled in more than $167,000 to improve breast cancer care on the South Shore.

This year’s focus is on bringing MOLLI technology to South Shore Regional Hospital, offering patients a less invasive and alternative to traditional breast cancer surgery procedures.

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 Canadian women, and many patients undergo a procedure called wire localization before surgery.

MOLLI replaces the traditional wire method with a small magnetic marker, allowing for more precise surgery while reducing discomfort.

Bringing this technology to the South Shore means patients will have access to advanced care closer to home.

CKBW and Country 100.7 staff helped tell patient stories throughout the day and help out audience learn more about how MOLLI works.
