Halifax Stanfield opens new international connections facility

Travellers using Halifax Stanfield International Airport this summer will notice several changes.

The airport has officially opened its new International Connections Facility (ICF), which allows passengers on select international flights to connect directly to domestic routes without exiting customs or reclaiming their baggage.

Officials say the new system will make transfers faster and easier for passengers while also supporting smoother cargo movements through the terminal.

The federal and provincial governments jointly supported the ICF project with $8.3 million from Transport Canada and $3 million from the Province of Nova Scotia.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, Halifax Stanfield has also launched a new international flight option. Swiss-based Edelweiss Air is now offering non-stop service between Halifax and Zurich. The airline is operating the route twice weekly until October 5.
