Health Canada has released a document outlining how they anticipate the COVID-19 situation will play out over the next few seasons.
In the document titled “Vaccinated against COVID-19? Here’s What happens next,” they outline how many people should be vaccinated and what health restrictions Canadians can expect to see lifted if those targets are met.
For the Spring season, Health Canada is predicting that most local health authorities will stay the course with their current restrictions as they work to vaccinate more of their populations.
The tagline for Spring is “stay home, stay safe, get vaccinated”. During this period Health Canada are stressing the importance of following local public health guidelines and getting vaccinated as soon as possible.
The Summer’s tagline is much more optimistic, it being “camping hiking picnics, patios”. Health Canada says most Canadians can expect those things to return provided we reach certain vaccination goals.
They say in order for a relatively normal summer to happen 75 per cent of Canadians will need to have received at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine and at least 25 per cent of the population needs to be fully vaccinated.

The Fall is when Health Canada foresees the return of larger gathering spaces and activities. The tagline for the Fall is “colleges, indoor sports, family gatherings.
Provided 75 per cent of the population has been fully vaccinated by fall they anticipate more activities indoors with people outside your household will be allowed.
Currently, 38.8 per cent of Canadians have received at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 3.3 per cent have been fully vaccinated.
