Nova Scotia has had isolated cases of monkeypox.
During Question Period at Province House Wednesday, Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson said the cases were contained and identified very early.
“There is, in no way, an outbreak of any kind. All of the contacts have been traced very readily, and Public Health is on top of that,” says Thompson.
She says there is a limited supply of monkeypox vaccine, and it’s used by looking at strict criteria through national and provincial Public Health.
“We are on top of the situation and Public Health is monitoring very closely.”
The question was asked by Liberal MLA Ben Jessome.
Thompson confirmed yesterday that the positive cases were not residents of Nova Scotia.
