Update: Lockdown lifted at the Mount after heavy police presence

A lockdown has lifted at Mount Saint Vincent University after a heavy police presence earlier this afternoon.

Officers say they got second-hand reports around 1 p.m. about an armed robbery at the University cafe, according to a news release.

However, there were no reports of gunshots or injuries, police say.

The school went into lockdown, but investigators found no evidence of any threats.

Police are remaining in the area as the investigation continues,.

The lockdown has been lifted, and students are now free to come and go as they wish, according to a social media post.

A spokesperson tells our newsroom this incident is unrelated to the shooting early Thursday afternoon in Highfield that left one man dead.
