Environment Canada is forecasting wet and windy conditions for most of Southern Nova Scotia.
Special Weather Statements have been issued for Lunenburg, Digby, Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Queens counties.
According to Environment Canada “Rain will begin Tuesday afternoon and become heavy, at times, overnight into Wednesday with strong easterly winds. The rain is expected to taper to showers with diminishing winds early Thursday morning.”
Meteorologist Ian Hubbard says the rain and wind is the byproduct of a low-pressure system that is currently South of Nova Scotia. “As this system moves up the winds are going to increase and the areas west of the system will see the biggest impact,” Hubbard said.
Some parts of the province may see up to 50 millimetres of rain over the next few days and winds are expected to reach speeds of 100 kilometres per hour.
The system is expected to clear Nova Scotia by Thursday morning and Environment Canada is currently forecasting clear sunny days on Thursday and Friday.
