The storm battering Nova Scotia has shut down several ferries.
Wind readings for the LaHave ferry are reaching 108km/h on the lee side.
The man in charge of the Brady E Himmelman, Captain Robert Niford says those winds are stronger on the river.
“Out in the middle, I know you can add another 10 or 20 kilometres (per hour) because, the way it is here, it’s kind of a bottleneck effect because you have the hill on both sides.”
The ferry captain says they pull the ferry once winds begin blowing at a consistent 60km/h.
Niford says the ferry will remain parked on the Riverport side until wind speeds drop below a sustained speed of 50km/h.
