Hockey Canada Cancels Upcoming Event In Bridgewater

Hockey Canada has made the decision to cancel three upcoming events, including one in Bridgewater.

The Canadian Tire Para Hockey Cup was scheduled to take place at Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre in early December.

“The ongoing pandemic, in addition to the vaccination status of some international teams, has left us with no other option,” said a statement from Hockey Canada. “We believe the decision to cancel these fall events is the safest decision given the ongoing uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic at a local level, as well as the uncertainty around countries and regions being able to safely compete.”

This is the second year the World Men’s Para tournament has been postponed due to the pandemic.

The National Women’s Under 21 Championship and the World Junior A Challenge were also scrapped.
