Hodge Podge Time

‘Tis the season. Fresh, new vegetables are starting to arrive which for most of us in this part of the world means hodge podge time.

When I lived in other parts of the country, it always surprised me that others didn’t indulge in this delicacy. In fact there were those who thought the idea of pouring cream on veggies was just downright strange.

I feel sorry for those people.

I know it’s not exactly the most heart healthy option, but there’s no way I’m even thinking of replacing butter and blend with margarine and skim milk. It’s just not the same. And it’s not like I eat it every day.

I know others have different ways of making hodge podge. Some have to put ham in it or with it. There are other options. I just like my veggies, blend and butter with a bit of salt and pepper and maybe a pinch of basil.

What are your secret ingredients for hodge podge?
