How Many Fridge Magnets?

Fridge magnets started out back in the sixties when people started putting plastic letters and numbers with a magnet attached to the back on their fridges.

These had been designed as an educational tool and weren’t meant to go on the fridge.

Then Sam Harcastle invented a method to combine iron oxide filings with vinyl that stuck to a fridge way better. The space industry were the backers behind his invention.

But Sam realized there was money to be made in the advertising industry and later the souvenir industry and they really became commonplace.

The average home has six fridge magnets on their fridge.

I haven’t counted lately but that sounds about right for my fridge.

How many fridge magnets do you have on your fridge?
