The Canadian Mint has added a new Toonie into circulation.
The new toonie celebrates 100 years since 4 researchers collaborated and discover insulin here in Canada. Insulin was discovered by Frederick Banting, Charles Best, James Collip and John Macleodway back in 1921.
Their are two versions of the toonie. One is colored and the other is not.
What’s on it?
It has scientific instruments, blood cells, a maple leaf and insulin molecules. The word insulin and the years 1921 and 2021 are also on it.
