An increase in black bears along the shoreline of Kejimkujik Seaside Park has kept the park closed to the public.
Keji had a tentative reopen date for today, but after monitoring the bears over the weekend, Parks Canada says in a statement the park will remain closed.
The bears have been noticed around the shoreline of the park, and Parks Canada says they assume they will move towards the woods once food becomes more plentiful.
Parks says while the bear activity is not unusual, their decision to keep the park closed was to ensure the safety of both visitors and the wildlife.
There was no announced date as to when the park would reopen, but Parks Canada says they will continue monitoring the situation.
