A Kings County dog breeder is facing charges under the Animal Protection Act after her appeal to return her 35 dogs was rejected.
Karin Robertson of Wolfville, requested an appeal after the SPCA removed the dogs from her home for unsanitary conditions and health concerns earlier this month.
She appeared before an appeals board on Dec. 30th, claiming the seizure as unlawful.
She said the SPCA had been inspecting her property for years, and only began pointing out issues earlier this year after a complaint against her went viral.
The appeal board however disagreed and upheld the decision, citing the seizure as lawful.
The owner has been charged with failing to comply with all reasonable directions of an SPCA inspector or peace officer and with causing an animal to be in distress and is expected in Kentville Provincial Court on Jan. 21.
