Kings-Hants MP says he stands with local wine producers

The MP of Kings-Hants says he stands with local wine producers.

Kody Blois has written a letter to Premier Tim Houston, asking him to pause a new policy that would fund two bottling companies that use imported grape juice.

Blois says this would effect the local wine industry, which brings $250 million a year to the economy.

He says the Premier’s idea that this is about trade compliance is false, as many other countries have protections in place for the industry.

In the legislature, Houston says he read Blois’ letter.

“Kody Blois is a nice guy, but he’s wrong on this. He’s also wrong on the Carbon Tax, but we support the wine industry and will continue to do that,” he said in the legislature.

Houston has also denied claims from the opposition of creating the subsidy to help a friend in the bottling industry.
