Letters mailed to cybersecurity breach victims

Letters have been mailed to those impacted in a provincial cybersecurity breach.

Over 165-thousand have gone out to those who had personal information stolen in the MOVEit breach.

Minister Colton LeBlanc says their goal was to notify those impacted as soon as possible, so they can take steps to protect their identity.

He says the focus now shifts to setting out the lessons learned, and ensuring departments keep personal information safe.

5 years of credit monitoring and fraud protection has been offered to those impacted.

Over 118-thousand people had social insurance numbers or banking information stolen.
