Lettuce – Do You Skip It Because Of The Price?

Hopefully we’re almost through the lettuce shortage in this country. The price is/was ridiculous and I refused to pay what they wanted at the grocery store.

So why do we have a lettuce shortage?

It’s because of heavy rains and drought in California (which supplies 70 per cent of our lettuce) which caused a lot of crop failures, and a virus that hit the lettuce fields at the same time.

The good news is that neighbouring states lettuce harvests are coming in now, so they expect the shortage to be over in December.

Have you given up lettuce during this shortage or have you substituted some other green for it?

Perhaps spinach, arugula or kale?
