LFA 33 Sets Sail On Dumping Day, LFA 34 Still Waiting

Dumping Day has arrived for some lobster fishers on the South Shore.

This morning in LFA 33, vessels loaded with traps and gear will sail to their favourite fishing grounds to open the fall lobster fishery.

The opening comes a day after the scheduled start to the season.

LFA 33 goes from Port La Tour in Shelburne to Cow Bay in Halifax.

Lobster fishers in LFA 34 in Southwestern Nova Scotia are still waiting for the all-clear to start the season.

It won’t happen this morning or tomorrow morning, with another weather call among DFO and port reps scheduled for tomorrow morning.
