A CKBW listener shared this dilemma and would love to hear your take on it:
I’m a middle aged guy named Leslie. In England, where I’m originally from, Leslie has always been a common boys name. But I could write a book based on all the comments and mixups that have occurred since I moved to Canada with my name. I wouldn’t wish this lifetime annoyance on anyone. That’s why I’m appalled at all the formerly traditional boys names now being given to girls. Lindsey, Cameron, Bailey, Logan, Morgan, Shelby, the list just goes on. It also makes life confusing for the general public. It used to be that you could assume gender from the first name, now that’s no longer true.
Does anyone else feel this way or if you’re a girl with a boys name do you wish you had a more traditional female name?
