A listener wrote in for some advice on this one:
“I’m not sure what to do about this somewhat innocuous thing that happens almost every day at work. It’s kind of dusty and I sneeze a lot because of it. When I do sneeze, there’s always a coworker nearby that says “bless you” right after. I can’t stand hearing this and do not want to be blessed by anyone. You see, when I was a kid my parents joined a religious cult that was a nightmare for women and children. We kids were not “spared the rod” and left me firmly anti-religious. Should I ask them not to say it to me? I really don’t want to get into my past history with being blessed.”
