A listner sent this email this past week:
A very good friend of mine is smart beautiful and funny and deserves a guy that recognizes all that but she’s hung up on someone who is clearly emotionally
abusive and controlling, demanding of her time and wants her entire world to revolve around him. She’s close to her family but he demands she spend time
with him over them. She asked me for my opinion and I was as kind and understanding as possible while at the same time letting her know how I really feel
about the relationship. I’m terrified if they start offically dating that the emotional abuse will continue. I think that problem is that she can’t see that she
deserves better. How can I help her before she ends up in a situation she can’t get out of?
