Liverpool schools closed due to power outage

Update: Power was restored Monday afternoon and classes are set to resume normally on Tuesday.

A power outage related to a house fire has caused classes to be cancelled at Liverpool Regional High School and Dr.C John Wickwire Academy.

Local firefighters were called to a house fire around 4:30 a.m. in the Town of Liverpool.

According to Nova Scotia Power’s outage map, power was turned off at 5:30 a.m. for an “emergency response”. The outage is isolated to the western portion of town, impacting about 800 properties.
