Lunenburg band stand closed

The Town of Lunenburg has announced the bandstand located in Civic Square is currently closed.

Citing safety reasons, the town did not provide a timeframe as to when they hope to reopen the site.

Yellow caution tape has been installed on the steps of the bandstand to prevent people from using it.

The timing is not ideal, with the bandstand seeing most of it’s annual use during the warmer months.

It is also the venue where the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival puts on free family concerts, which take place annually in early August.

The bandstand is a replica of the 1889 original and was built in 1987 by the Lunenburg Heritage Society.
