Lunenburg to host public input meetings on new daycare facility and proposed development

The Town of Lunenburg is holding public hearings to gather public input on two proposals—a municipal lease for a daycare facility and new developments in the Heritage Conservation District.

The first hearing concerns a proposal to lease town-owned property to the Lunenburg Daycare Centre at below-market rates. Two potential sites are being considered: 87 Victoria Road, near Bluenose Academy, which would require extensive preparation work, and a Starr Street location in the World Heritage Buffer Zone that would need servicing upgrades.

The second hearing will focus on an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for two proposed developments in the Heritage Conservation District.

The plans include a 2 ½-storey residential building on Lot 2 Pelham Street and two 3 ½-storey commercial buildings on Lot 3 Montague Street, which an enclosed walkway would connect.

Both meetings will take place February 11 starting at 6:00 p.m., written submissions will be accepted until February 10.
