Lunenburg Treatment Plant Up And Running

Lunenburg’s waste water is finally being treated once again.

The town’s wastewater treatment plant is mostly back online and treating water properly after it was taken offline by Hurricane Dorian last month.

In a release, the town says all systems have been repaired except the ultraviolet disinfecting system, which is running at about 75 per cent.

The town expects repairs to the UV system to wrap up sometime next week.

While the plant was down, waste water was being pumped into the harbour directly.

With the repairs complete though, wastewater is now being pumped out of its usual outfall pipe.

However town officials are still asking residents to avoid contact with harbourfront water due to unknown health risks.
