Macdonald Bridge toll booths torn down

It’s an end of an era.

Construction has begun to completely remove the toll booths at the MacDonald Bridge in Halifax, and they are now in the process of being torn down.

Halifax Harbour Bridges posted a picture of the progress, Saturday morning.

In preparation, HHB removed the fare to cross the harbour spans Friday, two days earlier than expected.

You’ll have to continue to pay a fee for the MacKay until Sunday.

The MacDonald Bridge will remain closed until Monday morning and again next weekend.

Removing the tolls was an election promise made good by Premier Tim Houston.
