Antigonish’s Al MacIsaac Steps Away From Blackhawks

Nova Scotian Al MacIsaac is out as Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks.

The Antigonish native stepped aside, along with General Manager Stan Bowman yesterday, as the findings of an independent review into sexual assault allegations against a former video coach in 2010 were released.

The video coach, Brad Aldrich, allegedly sexually assaulted a former Blackhawks player.

The review showed MacIsaac was part of a meeting of team representatives that knew about the allegations.

The higher-ups ultimately decided not to take action, as the Blackhawks were in the middle of their 2010 Stanley Cup championship run.

MacIsaac had been with the Blackhawks organization since 2000.
