Mahone Bay Approves Donation Meters on Public Land

Not-for-profit groups in Mahone Bay will get some extra pocket change added to their bottom line.

The Town has supported a motion to install donation meters on public property.

They were previously only approved for private land and supported groups like the Three Churches Foundation; Mahone Bay Centre; the Mahone Bay Fire Department; and the Mahone Bay and Area Tourism and Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor David Devenne says they’re extending a helping hand.

“To fundraise for those not-for-profit groups that have no access to private property, but who do certainly contribute to the quality of life in the town.”

The meters will be installed on town property in locations where the not-for-profit organization manages or contributes to that space.

Devenne says the change will support all not-for-profit organizations in Mahone Bay.

“Because, we’re going to share the revenue from the meters across all of our not-for-profit town groups. Everybody will have an opportunity to gain from it.”
