Mahone Bay residents are having a day in the park.
The town will recognize “Mahone Bay Day” on Saturday September 14 as part of their 100th anniversary.
Residents are asked to bring their own picnic to Jubilee Park and get to know each other and members of council.
Mayor David Devenne says the date seems to be a perfect fit.
“That’s after school goes back in, after the Labour Day weekend and the summer silly season has passed,” says Devenne.
“We felt we would be able to better plan that opportunity in between the Labour Day weekend and the Scarecrow Festival, which is at the end of September.”
Devenne says additional information like time, food and entertainment are still being considered.
The day is one of a number of ongoing initiatives council is entertaining for their centennial including a heritage mural and its celebration of planting 100 trees.
Other dates considered were August 31 and September 1.
September 15 is a back-up date in case the day is rained out.
