The playground was completed earlier this spring and was a joint effort between the town and community volunteers.
The project recieved funding from the federal and provincial governments, the town, MODL and private donors.
Chair of the playground committee, Kristen Martell, says the new space is bringing more families together.
“A lot of times we would come to the playground and there would be maybe one person here but now, it’s not uncommon to find a few families. You can sit and chat and really reconnect and it’s really bringing back a sense of community.”
The natural playground has been developed next to the existing Tiny Tots playground, a project of the Mahone Bay and Area Lions Club.
Martell says it is a welcoming place for children and families.
