Burn ban in effect for most of N.S.

You’re not allowed to have a fire in most of Nova Scotia.

Burning is banned in all of the mainland, except for Antigonish County as of 2 p.m. Sunday.

Conditions have been dry the last few days, and sun and warmer temperatures are in the forecast this week.

The Department of Natural Resources and Renewables updates the restrictions daily.

On Sunday afternoon, several departments were reportedly responding to a woods fire in Bear River, Digby County.

There was also a reported woods fire in the Indian Brook area.

Wildfire season was extreme in Nova Scotia last year, with dozens of homes being destroyed in Shelburne County and Upper Tantallon.
