Pugwash man allegedly tried to abduct youth while impersonating police officer

One man faces charges after allegedly impersonating a police officer and trying to abduct a teen.

The RCMP says a youth was walking on Church Street in Pugwash on Tuesday around 8:40 a.m. when a man approached in a blue car, according to a news release.

He claimed to be a police officer and then offered the youth a drive, but the youth repeatedly said no, and the man drove away.

The 73-year-old man from Pugwash was later arrested and released, with a court date in February.

Investigators say the car did not have any fake police markings, and there was no indication he had on any fake uniform.
