A 28-year old man shot in Florence, Cape Breton last week has died.
Another man is now charged with first-degree murder, according to Cape Breton Regional Police.
Twenty-four year old Brandon Tyler Mackinnon was originally charged with attempted murder, but police upgraded the charge after the man’s death in Halifax hospital.
The incident happened on Oram Drive in the community north of Sydney last Thursday.
Police say the two men were known to each other.
They say there’s been a number of unprecedented incidents recently involving weapons.
In a social media post, they thanked officers for their quick response to limit any further impact to communities.
