Man, Dog Escape Burning Home in Greenfield

No injuries after a six-alarm fire early this morning in Greenfield.

Firefighters responded to the single storey home on fire around 2:30 a.m.

Chief Moyal Conrad says they arrived on scene to see flames through the tin roof.

He says the house is a total loss but the homeowner is safe.

“There was a single man and his dog there that were woken up by smoke and able to get out in lots of time.”

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Firefighters from North Queens, Liverpool and Tri District were also on scene while Port Medway and Mill Village were on standby.

The Canadian Red Cross is assisting the man and the Greenfield Fire Department is also collecting donations.
