There has been some discussion that face masks should become mandatory. Some say yes, some say no, others say it should just be a strong suggestion because enforcing the idea would be a nightmare.
I’m not sure what to think. I have good intentions a lot of times, but I haven’t really gotten into the habit yet. I usually have a mask close by, but often forget to wear it. And you know there would be those who would just refuse.
I’m not against the idea, particularly if it helps to control the spread of the virus while the search for a vaccine continues. A combination of masks, social distancing and hand washing seems to have had an effect, and I certainly am capable of doing all three if it helps keep me, my family and friends healthy.
But I know there are those who simply will not do it, for whatever reason.
I mean, you would think that following an arrow on the floor would be pretty simply, but there sure are a lot of people who cannot or will not figure that out. Although I will admit that there are a number of stores who might want to actually think about how traffic flow actually works. More than once I have found myself trapped in a far corner trying to figure out how to escape.
Thinking about it, the “strong suggestion” option seems best. That way we don’t need people handing out tickets to non mask wearers.
