Maritime Students See Good Things In 2016 Budget

Students feel the federal budget made important steps in the right direction.

Charlotte Kiddell from the Canadian Federation of Students says it was great to see funding for non-repayable grants and youth employment initiatives.

She says these are things they specifically asked for.

“We see that our federal government is listening,” she says. “We have a long way to go, but we see in this budget that Student Action is paying off in direct results for Canada’s students.”

Kiddell says they’re disappointed to see a cap on the Post-Secondary Student Support Program for Indigenous students remain in place.

She says they’ll continue to pressure Trudeau to keep his promise to lift it.
