Microwave Memories

I’m old enough to remember when home microwave ovens first came out.

My friends and I would put different foods in them to watch how they cooked.

I think a cored stuffed apple was one of the first things we watched explode.

I also quickly learned not to heat eggs in the shell in a microwave.

My English friends scolded me for trying to make a cup of tea in a microwave – they were appalled.

Even though I have no qualms about using a microwave, I have to share a tin hat theory I heard from a coworker.

This very knowledgeable, educated person told me that he would never have a microwave in his home, and held to that belief for at least 20 years.

He said that they made food unhealthy and said the proof was how milk products reacted in the appliance.

Even though I didn’t believe his theories I still think about his fears everytime I use the microwave.

How often do you use your microwave?
