Nova Scotia’s Minister of Education is appealing to motorists to look out for the safety of students.
Last month the Tri-County Regional Centre For Education told us that from January to April last year, there were 65 school bus red light violations. and from January to April this year, there were 75.
That’s an increase of 10 in the four-month period from last year.
Zach Churchill says that is not acceptable.
“We need people to pay attention to bus stops signs. We have kids that are crossing the street, who are in harm’s way if people aren’t following the rules of the road.”
He says it’s reckless not to stop for a bus with its warning lights flashing.
“It’s incumbent on all of us to protect and preserve their lives and well-being.”
