Missing youth in New Canada safely recovered after lengthy search in cold weather

A coordinated search effort in New Canada led to the safe recovery of a missing youth on January 16. Lunenburg District RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, local fire departments, and Emergency Health Services (EHS), responded to the report at approximately 5:55 p.m.

The Bridgewater Fire Department contributed by deploying their drone, which used thermal imaging to help locate the youth in the search area.

Northfield & District Fire, along with Oakhill and Springfield fire departments, provided additional support with ATVs to navigate the terrain.

By 8:50 p.m., the youth was found unharmed and safely returned to their family.
