The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is increasing its property tax rebates for low-income households.
Households with combined earnings less than $51,850 will now be eligible for a maximum rebate of $650, which is a 14 per cent (Approximately $91 increase) increase from last year’s rebate.
“We recognize that this is a very difficult environment for lower-income property owners,” says Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson. “The Property Tax Rebate is one of the many ways the Municipality supports our residents encountering financial difficulties,”.
In the 2023 tax year, MODL issued rebates to 730 households, offering recipients combined savings of $753,400.
Anyone eligible for the rebate is required to apply annually, which involves providing household income information. Successful applicants would then see the rebate on their final property tax bill for the year.
