More Edible Art

It was pretty big news over the last few days. First, the fact that a banana duct taped to a wall was considered art.

Two separate people each paid $120,000 for a copy of “Comedian”. That was the official name of the banana duct taped to a wall. There was a third copy that was expected to fetch around $150,000.

Then, along comes a person calling himself a performance artist, he ripped the banana from the wall and ate it. People said he destroyed art. Others said he created art. He called it delicious.

But the best part, turns out the banana was supposed to be replaced every so often. The original artist had left instructions on replacing the banana part of the art because he knew it would go bad after a while. So really, you can just tape another banana to the wall and the work has been restored.

All this got me thinking. (Yes, this in dangerous.) Yesterday, I created an art installation. I carefully filled a bowl with nuts. That’s it. A bowl of nuts.

Sure, I do it every year. This work of art is a tradition of sorts. I think it’s worth at least a couple hundred thousand. I mean, if a banana goes for $120,000, a bowl of nuts should be worth more.

After all, the world is run by nuts.
