More arrests for fishing violations in Southwest Nova Scotia.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says arrests were made September 7th and 10th for Fisheries Act infractions.
To date, 655 traps have been seized, and thousands of lobsters dumped back into the ocean.
DFO says enforcement will continue, and they’re partnering with RCMP.
They say Indigenous Food Social and Ceremonial licence holders cannot sell their catch.
Tensions have been high in St. Mary’s Bay once again over an Indigenous moderate livelihood fishery not authorized by DFO.
Two people were arrested and later released without charges after a scuffle last weekend on the wharf in Saulnierville.
