The mere mention of pineapple on a pizza can cause great conflict. People seem to either love or hate the idea.
Honestly, I don’t have much of an opinion. Pineapple would not be amoung my favourite pizza toppings, but I don’t hate it either. The combination of sweet and savory tastes are sort of interesting, and I’m certainly not one of those who would rather starve than eat such a thing.
But now there’s a new contender in the world of fruit on a pizza… the kiwi. Yeah, that fuzzy little thing that looks a bit like an egg with fur, but is sweet and juicy on the inside has found it’s way onto pizza in Denmark. The internet seems split, much like with pineapple. Some want to give it a try, others are crying blasphemy and breaking out the torches.
I try to understand that different places combine flavours in different ways. There are stories of things like apples and oranges being used as pizza toppings. Sweden is known for their banana curry pizza topped with peanuts.
It may sound strange to us, but I’m at least willing to give it a try. Pizza is infinitely adaptable. I guess I should at least try to be.
