I need more soup in my life. I mean, I like soup. I just don’t eat much soup. And I have no idea why.
While cruising around social media today, I noticed a couple people posting soup for lunch. It looked really tasty. But it also made me realize I rarely eat soup.
Which also means I rarely make soup. The ham bone from Easter was bagged and tossed in the freezer. Okay, I was getting a a bit tired of ham, but would a nice bowl or two of pea soup have been such a bad thing? The sad part is, I will find the bone in a few months and wonder why I ever kept it, and likely forget all about the plan to make soup with it.
And I’ve made some other nice soups at times. I put together a killer cheddar cheese soup a few years back. And a really nice squash soup. So it’s not a matter of not knowing how. I just don’t, for some reason.
I’m not sure how I became a non-soup eater. I think it happened a few years ago. I kept reading about how canned soup had too much sodium, so I cut back. There are lots of low sodium options, so that really isn’t a big concern anymore. I should eat more soup. And making it yourself gives you control over what goes into it.
I’ll say that now, but soon the weather will start to warm up and I won’t want to eat soup.
But now, while the weather is still a bit cool, and a nice hearty bowl of soup would be a good thing, I should try to eat more of it. Try to revive my inner soup eater.
Or at least post pictures of it online to make others want to eat it.
