Municipality buys Hartz Point property in Shelburne

A large land purchase for the Municipality of Shelburne.

They bought the 558-acre Hartz Point waterfront property for $1.46 million.

Warden Penny Smith says it’s a great opportunity.

“Our vision is to attract thoughtful, sustainable projects that complement the property’s natural beauty and community character, while creating new opportunities for investment, jobs and recreation,” said Smith.

She says large-scale industrial projects aren’t part of the plan.

They’ve developed an Economic Growth Committee to oversee the work.

“They’ll lead the process on a development plan for the property. This will include community consultations to ensure it aligns with community needs and priorities.”

Smith says every hour of travel connects you to an economic hub in Nova Scotia, and Shelburne sits at a mid-point between Yarmouth and Bridgewater, giving a unique advantage for new investment.
