The Municipality of Chester has activated its water distribution program that aims to help community members dealing with dry wells.
In recent weeks the Municipality has been receiving more reports of dry wells prompting them to activate the program effective immediately.
The program will provide households experiencing a potable water shortage with 4L of water per day per person per household up to four people.
After submitting a dry well report residents can then pick up coupons that can then be exchanged for water at five retail locations around the municipality.
The five participating retailers include;
Clover Farm (4866 NS-12, New Ross)
Foodland (4115 Nova Scotia Trunk 3, Chester)
Independent Grocer (211 Duke St, Chester)
Independent Grocer (100 Nova Scotia Trunk 3, Hubbards)
Petro-Canada (5404 Nova Scotia Trunk 3, Chester Basin)
Coupons are good for a two-week period (Monday to Sunday) but will expire on the second Sunday for as long as the program is in place. After expiration, new coupons will be issued for the next program period.
Coupons can be picked up at the Municipal Office, District #1 Community Centre, and New Ross Community School.
The Municipality will assess the situation again on October 6, 2022 to determine if the program will or will not continue.
