My Quest For The Perfect Cup Of Coffee

I’ve spent my entire life looking for the perfect cup of coffee. I’ve done perk, filter, French press, instant, ground the beans moments before brewing, fine ground, coarse ground you name it.

Spent too much money on expensive coffee beans that promised the moon but were just OK. Been to many coffee shops and tried lots of fancy coffees.

Here’s what works for me – I rarely like extra’s in my coffee because I love the slightly bitter taste of coffee and I don’t want sugary flavours to cover that up.

So I like a plain, usually filtered coffee with just a touch of cream. I want to taste the coffee and not the cream.

Years ago I settled on my favourite coffee and , this might surprise you, it was the Superstore’s No Name cube of coffee that came in the bright yellow No Name box. It had a nutty flavour to it that I really enjoyed.

Well, as they say all good things must come to an end and the coffee in the vacuum sealed box was phased out so I had to find something else to drink.

For the last several years I drink the PC coffee in the goldy/bronzey can that goes on sale regularly at Shoppers. It seems to be a finer grind, and has the slightest tones of caramel and I really like it.

And it’s cheap.

Where do you get your favourite cup of coffee? At a coffee shop, a drive through or do you make it at home?
