N.S. gets wildfire prevention funding

Funding to help prevent wildfires in Nova Scotia.

The feds and province are teaming up to fund $30 million over five years.

It will help Nova Scotia purchase wildfire fighting equipment like helicopters, fire trucks and protective equipment.

They’ll also be able to train more personnel to support needs, helping to improve safety for communities and firefighters.

Some of the funding is also aimed at preparing for wildfires and reducing risks, with FireSmart principles and practices.

This includes educational and awareness activities.
