N.S. man charged with murder after pedestrian struck by pickup truck

A Nova Scotia man has been charged with murder after a 56-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Pictou on Friday night.

The Mounties were called to the collision on Denoon Street just before 10 p.m. They say the man from Pictou was pronounced dead at the scene and the 40-year-old driver was arrested.

Vernon Edward Gallant of Pictou has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He has been remanded into custody after a court appearance on Monday.

His next appearance will be in Pictou Provincial Court on July 14th at 9:30 a.m.
